MHRA Seizes more than 25 Million GBP of Counterfeit Medicine in Last Five Years as New Anti-counterfeiting Strategy Launches

As the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) launches its second anti-counterfeiting strategy, the UK medicines regulator reveals it has seized more than £25 million of counterfeit and stolen medicines in the last five years. This has contributed to a marked reduction in known incidents of counterfeit medical products entering the regulated UK supply chain.

A scientist who has found a potential new target to treat fungal infections responsible for a growing number of health problems in people with low immune system from thrush to blood infections and for many diseases in crops and animals has been awarded a prestigious grant of nearly GBP 400,000 to try and discover how to fight it.
